We're Not Claude Puppets — And That's the Point
AI
Fluency Lab uses Claude as a teaching tool. Here's why that's very different
from being loyal to it.
If you've landed on our course platform — hosted on Anthropic's Skilljar — and noticed that most of our examples feature Claude, you might have a reasonable question: Are these people just here to sell me on one AI tool?
It's a fair question. And the
answer is a clear, firm no. Here's why.
We teach the framework, not the tool
The AI Fluency Framework is
built around four core competencies we call the 4Ds: Delegation, Description,
Discernment, and Diligence. Every single one of these skills works regardless of
which AI system you're sitting in front of.
We say it explicitly in our
course: use Claude, use ChatGPT, use Gemini — whatever works for you. We use
Claude in examples because it's accessible, free to get started with, and
familiar to many learners. It's a teaching vehicle, not a brand loyalty pledge.
Discernment is literally one of our four pillars
Think about what it would mean
to be a "Claude puppet." It would mean accepting every output
uncritically, never pushing back, never verifying, never asking whether AI is
even the right tool for the job.
That's precisely what AI
Fluency is designed to prevent. Discernment — the ability to evaluate,
critique, and make judgment calls about AI output — sits at the heart of
everything we teach. A puppet does what it's told. We're teaching you to be the
one holding the strings.
AI Fluency Lab is an independent brand
We're aifluencylab.com.au. Our
YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook are all independently ours. We chose
to host on Anthropic's Skilljar platform because it's a great delivery tool for
our content — the same way a cooking school might use a KitchenAid mixer in
class without being sponsored by KitchenAid.
The platform we teach on
doesn't define our values. Our curriculum does.
The goal is human capability, not AI dependency
Here's something we believe
deeply: the rapid expansion of AI tools doesn't mean humans need to think less.
It means we need to think differently — and better.
AI Fluency is about knowing
when to use AI, how to direct it effectively, and — critically — when not to
rely on it. By the end of our course, we want you walking away more confident
in your own judgment, not less. More capable, not more dependent.
That's the opposite of
puppet behaviour.
